Bio
After a queezy 5-year tussle with commercial radio advertising sales, I couldn't quite stomach selling another ad for Bill O'Reilly, Michael Savage, or Rush Limbaugh. The pain was enough for me to seek a path of infiltration into their airwaves with a smart news product syndicated as broadly as they. Green Air was born.
The first incarnation was a half-hour show we hoped to have sponsored by a clean energy company and aired as a paid program on as many stations as we could afford. After a solid demo, some minor tweaks, and lightning bolts of inspiration from my radio mentor, Joan Hamburg, and producer, Scott Newman, the best course of action seemed to be to tap the jugular of major market radio AM News/Talk as a 1-minute feature. Sure enough, CBS snatched us up after our first pitch.
Currently, Green Air is made available to 450 affiliate stations across America. The best part is that sometimes, when the air is just right, Green Air comes on during the break between O'Reilly and Limbaugh on some of the most conservative right wing stations in the country.
As for me, I get my mind tangled up in all kinds of stuff from restaurant startups to real estate. There are few jobs I haven't done and I get really antsy when I'm idle (although I love to sit and stare blankly into my garden every so often).
I'm an avid cyclist, snowboarder, hiker, swimmer, beach bum, couch surfer, traveler, eater, and cooker.
A non-green person should be more accurately defined as just plain lazy. If you're not interested in saving money or being conscious not only of the global environment but of the air, soil, and water circulating all around you then you should assess what's holding you back. If there's a problem with putting a tin can in the right receptacle or using a tote bag for your groceries, you might have to stop for 5-seconds before you consume anything again and reconsider the consequences.
We all have unique situations, homes, habitats, and limitations but there hasn't yet been one excuse good enough to exclude anyone from the vital global effort we're all responsible for.
Reclaim your life and the world will reward you.
Name a couple of your green actions.
1.) The launch of Green Air on Earth Day, April 23, 2008.
2.) Joining a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.
3.) Commuting by bike everywhere (except when it rains or snows).
4.) Composting in my backyard.
5.) Gardening.
6.) Educating my friends.
7.) Buying organic.
8.) Supporting fair trade and boycotting questionable businesses.
9.) Reusing all plastic bags and take-out containers for food storage, preservation, and trash bags.
10.) Educating myself and others every day on new ways to save energy and money.
11.) Aligning myself and my company with like minded individuals doing the same.
12.) Adopting a pet from a shelter.
