Sometimes fashion is not always what it's seems and it's our responsibility to make good purchasing choices. Here is a feature that I just read on the Huffington Post that I thought I would share with you regarding alleged violations of worker's rights...
The public was taken aback when the Kardashian family got hit with a lawsuit claiming their clothing lines for QVC and other outlets utilized sweatshop laborers overseas.
But now, a fashion designer's employees are claiming that he violated labor conditions right here in New York City.
The New York Post reports that 30 of Alexander Wang's workers filed a $50 million labor lawsuit in Queens Supreme Court, claiming that conditions in Wang's Chinatown factory are reprehensible and dangerous.
The workers say they were forced to work for Wang and his brother for 16 hours or more per day without overtime pay in a windowless 200 square foot office. One employee alleges he was fired on February 16 after filing a worker's comp claim after he was hospitalized following a 25-hour shift.
Wang -- who just hired superstar models Gisele, Karolina Kurkova and Shalom Harlow to walk his New York Fashion Week show -- has made a name for himself with his line of laid-back, casual sportswear.
We've reached out to Alexander Wang's office for comment and will update when we hear back.

Being a designer myself , I have seem many bad things not just over seas. LA is just as bad as New York. Workers from Mexico & Korea paid 2.00 an hour under the table. Sleeping on the floor living in Fear. I'm MAH ! What a greedy person but thats very common in the garment industry. Once again human rights & the environment takes a back seat to money .
