Looks like I found my next road trip destination and an amazing one it will be.
Bobby From Boston has been heralded as the best vintage store in America and it would not be nearly as amazing without it's owner Bobby Garnett.
Bobby named his shop in Boston's South End after the nickname British vintage dealers gave him when he'd go into their shops and peruse their wares.
Opened in 1995, Bobby From Boston quickly became a destination for hipsters, Hollywood heavyweights, and just about every concept director and designer in fashion looking for vintage men's wear to use as inspiration.
"The first vintage store I saw was in 1970. I walked in, lost my mind, and realized I'd like to do this. That's how I started."
Bobby From Boston buy things in almost any condition. Their restoration person is Bobby's sister-in-law. They also do a lot for movies and TV. Bobby From Boston is currently working on Boardwalk Empire. They did a lot with Shutter Island, Casino, Cinderella Man, A bronx Tale, Apollo 13 etc… Clients come or send over research, and Bobby From Boston will send boxes of clothes. Bobby From Boston deals with fashion brands; Ralph Lauren, Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, Armani, J. Crew and smaller designers as well. Bobby says, " the clothes don't have to be in pristine condition -the designers are just looking for the shape and details for inspiration."
Bobby has also stated that he likes vintage fixtures as much as clothing. Having recently purchased the interior of a shoe store that open in 1922 in Waltham, Massachusetts - the shelving, glass, and fixtures - all for $1500 and then rebuilt part of it in his shop.

Bobby Garnett has no internet business and chooses to be hands-on as he likes to see the customers enjoy stuff and not sell to people that he can't see...
