Freewaters Flipflops - Helping find Solutions to the Global Drinking Water Pandemic...

As most of my friends already know, I do not condone wearing flips(everyone), sandals(men) outside of a beach community.  But if just can't resist the urge checkout  Freewaters' footwear as they are a company doing great things.

The purchase of one pair of Freewaters allows them to provide clean drinking water for one individual for one entire year.

Freewaters, a small group on a mission to improve the quality of life through superior product experience and through creative humanitarian initiatives. More specifically, they are on two parallel and fully integrated campaigns: to design the best sandals ever seen and to help find solutions to the global drinking water pandemic.

As product designers they grew tired of failing to find sandals with the fit, performance and styling that they wanted. Freewaters says, "As humans, we grew tired of procrastinating to make the world a better place. Freewaters are two industrial designers and longtime friends: Martin Kim (knower of all things related to snowboard boots) and Eli Marmar (knower of all things related to wetsuits). They have a shared addiction to pushing the limits of design, wearing sandals 24-7, spending as much time in the water as possible and a common desire to make the world a better place.

Access to Clean Drinking Water

Every year, more people die from the consequences of unsafe water than from all forms of violence, including war. Dirty water and a lack of proper hygiene kill 3,300,000 people annually, most of them children under the age of 5. At Freewaters they believe access to clean water is a basic human right.

ProjectFreewaters.org is the working name of their grassroots organization for implementing the Freewaters direct cause initiative: the purchase of one pair of Freewaters allows them to provide clean drinking water for one individual for one entire year.
