Did you hear about Rick Perry's energy plan?

We call it "Pollute, Baby, Pollute."

Perry calls it "Drill, Baby, Drill." It's a rehash of Sarah Palin's failed energy plan, but with cynical new twists gut the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, roll back emissions and air quality standards, and strip the EPA of its authority to regulate carbon emissions. It’s a polluter's paradise!

Perry's plan would continue to let mercury and other life-threatening toxins flow from industrial incinerators, coal-fired power plants, cement factories and refineries, because he falsely claims that limiting emissions is "causing business to hesitate to spend money."

Don't buy it. Protecting our health is the right thing to do. Strong public safeguards spur innovation and create jobs.

The ideas in Perry's plan have no place in our economic recovery. Yet some members of Congress are introducing legislation right now that enacts Perry's polluter plan. Ask your representative to reject these bad ideas.

The absurd thing is we already have a "Drill, Baby, Drill" energy policy. In the first eight months of this year, the United States drilled 21,000 new wells, the highest level in nearly three decades. Oil companies extracted nearly 1.6 million barrels of oil from the Gulf every single day last year -- the highest output on record!

Enough! We're done sacrificing our health and future prosperity for Big Oil profits. Big Oil has dominated our energy policy for decades and continues to walk off with record profits.

Nothing in Perry's energy plan positions our country for prosperity and security. It will send us into an energy tailspin at the exact moment we need to straighten out and pull ahead with public investments in clean energy.

End Perry's plan before it even begins. It's bad for our health, bad for our air and water, and bad for our economy. Urge your representative to speak out against Perry's energy plan and deliver a clean energy future.
