Carefully crafted by experts and using the latest developments in green chemistry, Savane certified organic formulations are free of harmful and toxic chemicals. We do not use animal or genetically modified ingredients, mineral oils, colour additives, synthetic fragrances or controversial preservatives.

Savane products are certified natural and organic by Ecocert (an independent international certifying agency). Savane products contain between 68 and 95% certified organic ingredients and are made of 99.9 to 100% natural origin ingredients. The products that are 99.9% natural contain a small amount of synthetic preservatives necessary to ensure the stability and quality of Savane products. These synthetic preservatives are approved by Ecocert.

Africa contains a quarter of the world’s biodiversity. Southern Africa alone has more than 30,000 species of indigenous plants that have been used by Africans for centuries.

Both in Africa and worldwide, biodiversity is declining at an alarming pace, with the extinction of an estimated 2,000 species each year (www.wwf.org). This loss of biodiversity threatens both our livelihood and that of Africa’s rural communities.

Savane believes in ethical sourcing, which respects and protects the traditional knowledge and intellectual property of local communities, assures equitable sharing of benefits and helps conserve biodiversity. Savane is a member of PhytoTrade Africa, and in the process of becoming a member of the Union for Ethical Biotrade.

RECYCLE, REDUCE & REPAIR

Savane has chosen aluminium packaging because it is unbreakable, light-weight, endlessly recyclable and protects our certified organic formulations from UV light. While aluminium takes a lot of energy to make, it uses only 5% of this energy to recycle. Also because it weighs so little, fuel consumption is greatly reduced when transporting. All our packaging has been approved by Ecocert as safe and eco-friendly.

Wherever possible Savane has also done away with outer packaging. To reduce our use of paper, our bottles have no outer boxes. Where the use of paper or cardboard is necessary, Savane has chosen recyclable cardboard or locally sourced paper made from renewable sugar cane pulp.
