I am always on the look out for great looking sustainable pieces for my wife and ran across the luxurious Diffus Design Solar Handbag. I know the thought of a stylish handbag being able to convey the energy harvested to the rechargeable battery sounds unbelievable, but do not fret this bag is supa hot!
Created in conjunction with Swiss embroidery specialist Forster Rohner and designers from the Alexandra institute, the Danish made solar handbag features hundreds of mini monocrystalline silicon ‘sequins’ covering the bag in a triangulated pattern.
The surface is embroidered with an integrated combination of normal embroidery and conductive embroidery that is able to convey the energy harvested for the solar sequins to the rechargeable battery,” explain the designers.
During the day, the handbag keeps your mobile phone charged via a lithium ion battery with 2watts of power. At night, optical fibre cables located discreetly inside the handbag are lit up, ensuring you always have enough light to find keys or your wallet.
