For this Earth Week, The James is helping you save energy and ride city transit for free. From April 17 - 23, we're offering complimentary public transportation cards upon request.
The James offers many environmentally thoughtful amenities on Earth Week and year round:
URBAN GARDEN
Located on the property's second floor, carved into the side of the building, the Urban Garden is a lush respite above the din of the city, designed by the hotel's horticulturist, award-winning landscape designer Rebecca Cole. Replete with grass and botanicals, a bar, outdoor dining spaces, and meeting space with outdoor terrace access, the Urban Garden is enclosed by industrial, concrete walls - a protective shell for the hidden greenery within. The Urban Garden also features a Chef's Herb Garden, whose flavors season our cuisine and cocktails.
ART
In homage to the creative neighborhood it calls home, The James New York features the works of a mix of local and international artists, both prominent and up-and-coming.
Working with Soho based non-profit artist collective Artists Space, Art Curator Matt Jensen carefully selected our many design and artistic partners, who curated the hotel's every space and detail. Your entire James Hotel experience, from your arrival all the way to the walls of your guestroom, is a journey of visual and cultural luxury.

ROOFTOP BAR
The James New York's awe-inspiring rooftop is perhaps our most enviable feature. It boasts a sexy social atmosphere, with an enclosed bar and lounge set against 360-degree views of the Manhattan skyline. Framed by the hotel's architectural "halo," the private rooftop pool featuring teak wood decking and outdoor showers, includes both indoor and outdoor seating for warm weather fun and relaxation.
Our rooftop bar, Jimmy, is a contemporary interpretation of a classic pub with a 1970’s New York twist. Elements like herringbone floors, a leather trimmed solid wood bar top, brick glazed tile walls, rich blue upholstery and working fireplaces come together to create a sense of warmth. A year-round destination, Jimmy opens into the rooftop pool deck during the warmer months. But whether indoors or out, Jimmy guests are treated to one of the most spectacular views in New York City: a river-to-river vista looking over Midtown, Wall Street, the Brooklyn Bridge and beyond.
Guests can order from our classically inspired cocktail menu with ingredients including syrups, bitters and juices prepared in-house from herbs in our Chef’s Garden.
DAVID BURKE KITCHEN
Celebrity Chef David Burke and The James Hotel have partnered again to open David Burke Kitchen in The James New York. The restaurant focuses on wholesome and hearty modern American food, locally sourced and presented in the creative and whimsical style that is Burke’s trademark. Designed by James Beard Award-winner Thomas Schlesser, David Burke Kitchen’s interior is inspired by the surrounding Soho neighborhood, blending the cool, industrial simplicity of an airy loft with the rustic warmth of a country barn. Guests can enjoy several ways to experience the restaurant, including the Treehouse Bar for artisanal cocktails and homemade sweet and savory “pop tarts” from the Treehouse’s “toast bar;” the loft-like main dining room featuring exposed beams and views through glass walls into the kitchen and wine cave; and outdoor space within the Urban Garden, opening this summer. The dining room boasts a bold, theatrical experience: a carving station where dishes are plated in the center of the action.
David Burke Kitchen serves breakfast, lunch, dinner daily as well as weekend brunch.
