Wow! Something good is finally comin ' out of the mall.
In Cleveland, Ohio Vicky Poole, marketing and events director at the Galleria Mall, and Jack Hamilton, a gallery owner teamed up to form Gardens Under Glass, their name for a project they call an "urban eco village." This month, they were awarded a $30,000 start-up grant from Civic Innovation Lab.
Poole and Hamilton set up a 12-foot food cart filled with lettuce, spices, spinach, tomatoes, and even a few strawberries that are being hydroponically grown in the Galleria Mall in Cleveland.
As soon as the urban crops come in Gardens Under Glass has plans to start selling produce to vendors inside the Galleria.
This is such a dope idea for malls across the country to consider with state failing stores that continue to leave.
