iPhone Apps For Those Still Sitting On The Climate Change Fence…

For peeps that are still non-believers on effects of climate change. Download these iPhone Apps so we can get crackin'...

GreenYou: GreenYou calculates your carbon footprint, including the ways you kill the planet just by traveling, eating, and living, and then gives you tips on how to reduce that effect. Useful! $0.99. iTunes

Greenmeter: In case you weren't aware, you can't just give up on reducing the environmental impact of your car after you buy it. Greenmeter gathers information on your vehicle's power and fuel efficiency, and evaluates your driving before giving you tips on how to reduce fuel consumption and lessen the pain your car hands out to the air around it. $5.99. iTunes

Jungfrau Climate Guide: This guide is designed to show tourists to Switzerland's Jungfrau region how climate change has affected its scenic mountains and valleys--but should work just as well around the globe. If, for example, you walk over and stand in front of a glacier, the app will tell you how much smaller it is now than it used to be, and provide pictures of the same glacier 100 years ago to prove its point. $9.99. iTunes

Skeptical Science: John Cook, creator of Skeptical Science, created this iPhone app as a handy go-to reference for deflecting questions (and embarrassing the questioner) on the subject of climate change. This app will teach you how to make him look like a complete idiot. Free. iTunes via treehugger

GreenPeace-Your Guide To Green Electronics

GreenPeace first released their 'Guide to Greener Electronics' in August 2006. The guide ranks the 18 top manufacturers of personal computers, mobile phones, TVs and games consoles according to their policies on toxic chemicals, recycling and climate change. Last updated: January 2010. Check it to see how your favorite companies line up...

The ranking criteria reflect the demands of the Toxic Tech campaign to the electronics companies. GreenPeace's three demands are that companies should:

1. Clean up their products by eliminating hazardous substances.

2. Takeback and recycle their products responsibly once they become obsolete.

3. Reduce the climate impacts of their operations and products

Here's 1 Good Thing about Coke - Their 100% HFC-Free Vending Machines

For years Greenpeace has long tried to persuade beverage companies to ditch HFC.

Coke has officially taken the lead in the ongoing sustainable cola wars with a pledge to cut hydrofluorocarbon (HFC), a potent greenhouse gas, from all vending machines and coolers by 2015.

To speed the transition to HFC-free vending machines, Coke plans to buy 150,000 HFC-free units in 2010--double the current speed of replacement. The beverage giant is also investing $50 million in green alternatives to HFC refrigeration.

Coke's move will be a big help in reaching its goal of cutting its carbon footprint 15% by 2020. The HFC-filled vending machines used by the company emit 40% of Coke's total emissions (15 million metric tons), and the switch to clean refrigeration technology is expected to cut emissions by a whopping 53 million metric tons. That's like taking 11 million cars off the road for a whole year.
